It takes approximately twelve years from the appearance of the first tooth to the loss of the last baby tooth, and it is our mission to make sure children will only have nice memories of dentists’ visits during this period.
The first visit is extremely important and we work hard to win our little patients’ trust and make this visit as enjoyable as possible.
We have been utilizing modern technology to screen children for susceptibility to tooth decay.
Measuring of the rate of predisposition to caries
During this visit, the dentist takes a sample of the plaque and saliva with a cotton swab. Laboratory tests can show whether the bacteria Streptococcus Mutans has been transmitted to the child’s mouth from parents, grandparents. If yes, a special treatment can help eliminate the danger of early tooth decay.
This procedure is the first step in our “10 years with healthy teeth” program.
A child’s very first visit
We have created a warm, friendly atmosphere in our office to help children feel at ease even at their very first visit to the dentist. The first visit is all about getting acquainted, building a trusting relationship with the dentist. If the first visit is about treating a possibly painful problem, we are too late: the child will be frightened of subsequent visits and your dentist will have a hard time creating a friendship with your child.
Take your child to your dentist as soon as the first teeth emerge. Come and see us, check out our facilities, introduce your child to us.
Our playcorner is a comfortable meeting room for the first meeting between dentist and young patient, then we can introduce to them the colorful, interactive kid-friendly office.
The loss of the first tooth
The loss of their first tooth is a memorable experience for all children. Some teeth come out unexpectedly, some take weeks. If your child’s tooth has been loose for quite some time and would like to make losing the first tooth a special experience, come to see us. With the help of colorful numbing gels, the tooth is out in a matter of seconds, and we provide a beautiful pouch, to present the little tooth to the Tooth fairy….
We have all seen fillings that are silver or white – but why not blue, red or green?
If your child needs a filling in one of their teeth, they can choose one or more of their favorite color to fill those teeth – this usually helps make this dreaded event into and anticipated one. Ask your child, what bright color they would chose and rest assured that the quality of these fillings is as good and lasting as the usual, old fashioned ones.
Most adults believe they brush adequately and teach their way of brushing teeth to their kids. However, professionals will tell you there are at least 12 different kinds of techniques and your technique may not be effective.
Do you brush adequately on both sides? Is there a better way of doing it? How long should it last? How about electronic toothbrushes?
Our specially designed, 30 minute toothbrushing course can be beneficial for both you and your child.
How do we prepare?
It is very important to prepare your child for this first visit, as it will establish their relationship for many years to come. Please see our attached patient information leaflet for important advice.
